Letter To New Teacher

Dear Ms. Cherie,
      Hello. I’m Chayo and I’m from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. I have been trying to fly abroad for the last 3 years but it has been unsuccessful. My parents wanted me to gain experience from another school.

Finally, I am back to the place where I intended to study. I will be in your class for the rest of this academic year, so I thought I’d write to tell you

a bit about myself. I’m 13 years old and I have one brother.

My hobbies are running and biking in my village. I also like to edit videos and play soccer.

My English level is proficient to communicate with different accents

such as American, British, Irish, South African, South American,

and Russian. The most difficult accent for me to understand is Russian English.

I am really good at using my imagination to do my homework.

However, I want to improve on my comprehension skills and creative writing.

I enjoy working individually; however, I am used to working in groups with different

learning styles and coping with the behavior of teammates.

The most difficult thing for me is to convince them to work hard because

I was born in an era of a strawberry generation in which most of us are overprotected

by family prosperity and like to do what we want at all times.
  I would like to tell you about my learning style.

After doing the survey, I discovered that I am a Tactile learner. The score of tactile is dominant which is 50% of the overall score.

Some of the things I like to do when learning are holding things in my hand,

touching my school shirt’s button whenever I want to concentrate on something.

Also, a clear goal has to be stated in order for me to dedicate full effort to the right thing.

Although my auditory is the lowest score, I would like to listen to music while working to

achieve the best performance because earbuds help to stimulate my brain.

The thing that I can do to improve my learning is to avoid sitting on an uncomfortable

seat and room temperature. To keep away from interacting with someone who just speaks

without any action tremendously helps me to generate good work.

I find it almost impossible to work with people that use feeling rather than logic.

In the case that I have no choice, I have to sacrifice good work to learn

human behavior instead.

I look forward to studying with you. I can’t wait to learn more from you.

Traditional and Modern Chinese Lantern: Reduce Light Pollutions

     The Lantern Festival may have originated during the Han era (206 BCE to 220 CE), when Buddhist monks would burn lanterns in honor of the Buddha on the 15th day of the lunar year. Later, the ceremony was embraced by the wider population and expanded throughout China and other regions of Asia. 

A legend about the festival's origins talks of the Chinese Emperor (You Di) becoming enraged at a village for slaughtering his goose. He intended to burn down the town, but he was foiled by a fairy who urged the inhabitants to light lanterns across the town on the scheduled day of doom. Because of all the brightness, the emperor imagined the town was already engulfed in flames. 

The town was spared, and in gratitude, The inhabitants have continued to memorialize the incident by waving colorful lanterns across the town on an annual basis.

During Chinese New year festival, the China town especially my hometown, Nakon Sawan province about 250 km north of Bangkok, decorates the whole town with Red Chinese lanterns. Nowadays the Chinese lantern is adapted to suit the modern lifestyle but remaining the traditional beauty. The incandescent lamp is used because it is cheap and its color looks like candle light however it creates a lot of light pollutions.

Materials:

Chinese Lantern

60 watts Incandescent Lamp (existing used)

5 watts LED Warm light bulb ( to save energy while maintaining the same illumination level as 60 watts Incandescent lamp)

Electric Wire and lamp socket

Translucent paper ( put at the bottom part and wrap around the light bulb to reduce glare)

Black poster paper ( cover on top to reduce the light to shine up to the sky and destroy the astronomical view and also to compensate the light level that was reduced due to glare reduction solution)

Tools:

Lux meter (to measure the illumination)

Power meter (to measure power taken by lamps)

Thermometer (to measure the ambient temperature impacted by lamps)

1. More Downlight less uplight

Illumination level Increased from 10 Lux to 15 Lux (improved 50%)

2. Reduce Glare

3. Save Energy, Reduce Heat, Maintain the Traditional Beauty

Power from 60 watts (0.06 kW) to 5 watts (0.00kW)

( couldn’t be seen at 3rd decimal because the power meter has too large to scale).

The ambient temperature is reduced from 38.2 celsius to 30.5 celsius to reduce heat to surrounding.

Conclusion

According to the test results, my design was a clear solution to solve those light pollution problems.

Limitations

More expensive for the LED compared to incandescent lamp so a lot of companies may not care about light pollution.

Color of the LED lamp doesn’t mirror the candle light perfectly.

It doesn’t impact that much for the daily light pollution because it is just the festivals, however it’s a strong first step that solves light pollution and in the future it should be able to apply to the daily applications.

The Outsiders:From Dusk Till Dawn

My connection to the Outsiders is when Ponyboy was talking to Cherry at the drive-in, the quote in chapter 3 that Cherry said “if I see you in the hall at school or someplace and don’t say hi, well, it’s not personal or anything.” This scene foreshadows my experience meeting a girl, but she acts in a rejecting way and doesn’t want to talk to you when it is out of her comfort zone.

I connect to this passage because I have the same experience with talking to a girl who acted very kind at school. She texted me on the weekends and asked me to help her with homework, fashion, and other opinions. When I met her at a shopping mall, she ignored me and after that, we texted again and seemed like nothing happened. This habit is the same as Cherry’s habit of not talking to Ponyboy at school. 

My connection helps me understand more about the Outsiders by there is more than one girl that behaves like this. I felt a bit of a waste of time in the beginning. When I saw this scene, I remembered my experience. I rethink that it was a lesson learned. I hope that it will not happen to me again. I will not be a power bank to anyone, at least I should be a mobile phone even if it could be replaced by the new model in the future.

I Am From

I am from Red and Choco; the roof of my Tudor-style house with brown granite fence, two white Chinese mythical hybrid creatures in front of the Big Ben clock tower at the gate of my village

I am from eating instant noodles since I was just a boy inspired by my grandpa, the salty 

delicious smell with the boiling steamed smoke

I am from a T-shirt with short pants with slippers would be my go-to style

I am from Chinese ancestors both my mom and dad sides, Hakka and Tae Chew tribe

I am from straightforward, introverts, no friends but got families

I am from the undercut and texturized crop haircut style

I am from never stopped trying and learning but he is already gone to heaven

I am from seeing him dead in front of all the family members and waiting to send him home

    
        I am from staying home, go to grandma’s house, Nakhon Sawan, and Central Pinklao the places I             go to almost every holiday

I am from price worth Chinese products but when learning in school the price increases

from 10k to 200k and now 400k.

I am from being most thinkers in my family

I am from the best hobby of watching movies

My Personality Type: INTP

 The Thinker

The result showed up that was Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving, or INTP. I was very sure that I am an INTP because I know I use instinct, overthinking, and perceiving skills in my daily life. So I am not surprised at all. Even my Tiktok account uses the word Instinct. People around me that truly know me would be sure that I use logic rather than feeling. Sometimes if you call my name and I don’t respond, it means that I am thinking of something. Yes, I think that it matches my initial decision because I knew I am an Introvert, Intuitive, I am very Thinking, and I am truly perceiving. INTP is quiet, reserved,  thoughtful, analytical, and be flexible in thinking outside the box. My strengths are logical and objective, abstract thinker, independent, loyal, affectionate with loved ones. My weakness would be sharing feelings because it is difficult for me to do so. Some careers for INTP would be Scientist, Mathematician, Engineer, and Software developer. I am interested in any job that I can use analytical and logical skills; on the other hand, I dream to be an astronaut and the minister of defense, if possible. I also like to improve my entrepreneurship skills in order to have a military and space technology empire in the end as my ultimate goal. I think that my type really fits me because I am an Introvert person, I don’t really like to socialize and interact with too many people because I think “when my circle got smaller, my vision got clearer. There’s strength in loyalty, not numbers.” I think that I am an Intuitive person because I always use my instinct to make decisions. If I am not sure what decision I should make, I would flip a coin and while it’s in the air; I would know my choice. I enjoy thinking, “What am I supposed to do to improve it?”. Lastly, I am a perceiving person, I would always find ways to improve my life, attitude, feelings, or even my school works. Some famous INTP people are Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin as a scientist, Abraham Lincoln as a President, Bill Gates as a Business owner, Neo the Matrix, Sherlock Holmes, and Sheldon Cooper as movie characters. In Marvel hero, Hulk, Spiderman, Ant-man. I could also be included as INTJ because my perceiving and judging are very close scores.

The Reaper: Loves gun more than Wife

 Have you ever noticed "How United States of America defeated the Talibans last time? It's because they have soldiers and military technology inventers that sacrifice both life and sleep time. I wanted to mention Snipers/spotters as another hero. I will talk about a sniper aka, the Reaper. He killed 33 Talibans in 3 months time. His name is Nicholas Irving. As a sniper you would know the gun is very important to you. 

So these are the reasons why soldiers love their Guns more than their wife. First, guns are more important because it could save the soldiers in the war by maintaining their gun would keep it accurate and clean. Secondly, the gun wouldn't cuss at them like their wives because the gun is your slave, on the other hand your wife would act like a princess. Third, you have to waste money on the things that your wife love but you don't in comparison the gun wouldn't ask for any money. Fourth, you have to take care of your wife when they are sick or pregnant and even their feelings. You also have to give them your time. Wives "why don't instead you let them stay at their work place and take care of the gun?" Lastly, guns are like our best friend please share my time with them.

Bangkok VS The Dystopia Community

     Bangkok and The Dystopia Community are big cities with  an abundant amount of people living together. Some parts are the same but most are different. Each city has unique characteristics. Which community is better for people to live in?

Bangkok and The Dystopia community seem generally the same. First, they have a leader and committee to manipulate the city. Second, they also have rules and punishments to make the community safe and peaceful. The communities are strong that there is no fighting in the community. Third, Bangkok is an acceptable place to live in likewise The Dystopia community. They have sufficient food for people and a safe place to live. Fourth, most people in Bangkok as well as The Dystopia community are not jobless. 

    However, Bangkok and The Dystopia community are actually different. First, Bangkok does not define many rules and has more freedom, you can do anything you want; whereas, The Dystopia community sets many rules and no freedom to do anything you desired. In Bangkok, you can see naked people, but may create plenty of crimes. The Dystopia community is prohibited, which limits our basic needs but makes less crime. Bangkok people can love each other while that of The Dystopia community is taken by pills. The punishments for Bangkok are to send people who did things seriously wrong to jail or execute; however, the punishment of The Dystopia community is to release them out from the community and can't join in again. In Bangkok, you can say bad words, on the other hand you can say bad words, on the other hand, you can't if you do it 3 times you will be released. In Bangkok, if you kill someone, you will be executed, in contrast, you would be released for the Dystopia community.

    We have overwhelming human rights in Bangkok, you can have personal things or ideas. You can do anything you choose to do that is not harmful to others. In The Dystopia community, there is no human right, there are no personal things or ideas for citizens; everything has to be assigned from the committee. In Bangkok, you can protest on the streets when you want a change from the community leader but it may make the society chaotic. Yet, in The Dystopia community, you can't even voice out your opinion. In Bangkok, you can enjoy choosing multicolor objects; on the contrary, in The Dystopia community, you can choose only black or white, which is good in the sense of equality.

     Although both of them generally look the same, they are much different in details. Each of them has its own unique style. It's your choice to choose which one is more suitable for you.
