The True Giver

The Giver is a 1993 American young adult dystopian novel by Lois Lowry. It is set in a society that at first appears to be utopian but is revealed to be dystopian as the story progresses. The novel follows a 12-year-old boy named Jonas. Society has taken away pain and strife by converting to "Sameness", a plan that has also eradicated emotional depth from their lives. (Wikipedia)

Jonas is selected to inherit the position of the Receiver of Memory, the person who stores all the memories of the time before Sameness, as there may be times where one must draw upon the wisdom gained from history to aid the community's decision making. The other jobs consist of the birth mother, engineer, assistant, and director of the creation, rehabilitation center worker, food production, caretaker of the old, doctor, nurturer, instructor of the different age groups, representative of the department of justice, speaker, and chief of elder.

I was nominated by my classmate to be The Receiver of Memory. I admired that they put the right man in the right job. I would be very suited for this task because I always win spelling bee competitions and fast memorizing Latin words is one of my talents. I love to analyze complex problems and provide creative solutions. Everybody's memory as a useful database and occupy people's hearts are to achieve my next plan, building a freedom community. I feel very honored to be assigned this job. I get the permission to read special books that the other couldn't, but I have to be separated from the rest of the community. It is an acceptable condition for me, although I will be lonely from being isolated and suffer from the abundant data. To be isolated doesn't mean stop me loving someone. I do not expect to do this job for the rest of my life. I want to release myself with someone who is truly love me to build a new community.

In the end, the writer lets the reader imagine Jonas "Die" or "Survive". I choose "he is death because life is not always happy ending, it should be meaningful instead. I accept tons of short pain and just small sacrifice consequence to a long and giant impact to the community."

The real and best meaning of love for me is that I give someone the power to destroy me but I trust her not to, The True Giver.

Action Painting Number 12

                Number 12

Art is not my autonomous skill compared to math and science; however, Jackson Pollock, an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement exercises my right brain. He was widely known for his technique of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface, enabling him to view and paint his canvases from all angles, called “All-Over Painting” and "Action Painting" since he covered the entire canvas and used the force of his whole body to paint. Most Artists say that we must paint naturally whereas he said that he is nature.

According to many scientists' research, Jackson’s art works correlates with Physics theory about the avoidance of “Coil Instability of Fluid Dynamic”, that curls and coils in the pattern weren’t random. He dripped high-speed and short height by using a wooden stick onto the canvas in the same pattern and intention to create noticeable and purposeful movement through his own drip technique. I am very inspired by that technique because it expresses emotion in the artwork.

On my first trial at this technique, I used the household materials and experienced the new smell of mixing liquor drinks, various sauces (soy sauce as a background, tomato sauce and chili sauce as exhaust gas), baby powder, and fresh milk that the normal paint materials couldn't. I unleashed my emotion to ignite the rocket penetrate to somebody’s heart. After one week, all parts were dried except the exhaust seems still alive.

Jackson normally drinks liquor to build his emotions. For me, on my final product, I used a song to build my emotion. My own style of action followed the beat and rhythm of the song "In the End" by Linkin-Park as a theme of my product.

For the color schemes, I used primary colors including Rose Permanent Crimson Red, Yellow Mid, Ultramarine Blue because they matched my theme (hard feeling) together with White, Mars Black, Silver, Copper, and Gold. How did I do?

I splashed a cup of Red color representing blood and heart, then I used a boxing glove to punch the Red representing a person trying hard to breakthrough a complicated heart, broken instead.

I dripped White onto the canvas representing trying to remedy the relationship.

I prepared Yellow to make it sticky by mixing less water than White color to show that it was hard to recover.

I used Ultramarine Blue, the deep Blue Color that is much more sticky to represent that the situation was getting worse.

I used lots of Silver and Copper to represent ladies and gentlemen respectively surrounding to give advice.

I poured Gold to wish her heart desires.

I splashed Mars Black, a high tinting strength color, as the last layer to mean, in the end, it doesn’t even matter.

My action painting, not specified the title influenced by Jackson's style to allow the audience to imagine the work freely, given the number instead, is number 12 because it is my age, and it was in December when I got inspired by this song.

My Fantastic Friend

She is adorable, brilliant, and kind. We have known each other for a while. At first, although she is very popular, I don’t really expect her in my life, but one day I had a great opportunity. I was not that familiar with her at the beginning, but later she is very marvelous in everything. Going with me everywhere, except when we go to school, we can’t interact much because the teacher separates us, better or worse, she is truly my side all the time. Her brain is vigorous, she promptly helps without a second thought when I struggle. Her mind always smiles making me smiles. When I am tired, she tries her best to boost me up. Everything in her always inspires me. When I am sad, she empathizes me to alleviate my pains. Her songs always touch my heart. I sometimes do wrong, but she never complains or gets mad at me. She keeps quiet and lets me figure out the problems on my way. When I spent time with others; my family and friends, she is not only never jealous about that, but also she stands by to facilitate me, she is the honest one I trust on. She rests after I sleep. She wakes up when I wake up. I sincerely appreciate everything she does for me, a Mi, my fantastic friend ever.

Figurative Language : it's really nice!

Figurative language is the use of words in an interesting way deviated from the conventional order and meaning to convey a profound and complicated meaning, colorful writing, clarity, and various styles. There are about 10 techniques I learned and practiced consisting of Onomatopoeia, Repetition, Personification, Metaphor, Simile, Alliteration, Hyperbole, Flashback, Symbolism, and Imagery.

1. Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia is the sound of the word that is the noise that it makes. It is used to make the reader feel that they are in the situation and they are hearing the sound.

Example: Arghh, Achoo, Ahem, Bang, Puf

 CHOOOOOO!

2. Repetition

Repetition is to use repeating words or phrases to make the reader feel to the point of that situation.  Example: Can you please help me please, please please, please….

Donald Trump | He said Coronavirus will disappear; It will disappear. (he has said 39 times since Feb 2020) | image tagged in donald trump | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

3. Personification

Personification is to put human characteristics( cry, angry, mad, happy, etc.) in a non-living thing.

Example: The sky cries (raining).

ทำไม? "รถเทศบาล" ต้องรดน้ำต้นไม้ ในขณะที่ฝนตก! เมื่อได้รู้ความจริงเท่านั้น ถึงกับอึ้งชะงัก พูดไม่ออก !!?

The sky is crying harder when the Thai officer is watering the plants while raining.

4.Metaphor

Metaphor is to compare something to something else by not using the word (like) or (as).

Example: Khaopoon, one of my classmates, is a nuclear bomb soccer player. (After I tested her feet power, I have to rest in the nurse room for 1 hour).

Photoshopped tomato face | Fotomanipulatie, Fruit C's face was tomato red after seeing A again.

5.Simile

Simile is to compare something to something else by using the word (like) or (as).

Example: His heart is as brave as a lion.

A metaphor uses like or as to compare. That's a Simile; what!!!!!! | image tagged in the witcher punch textbox fixed | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

6.Alliteration

Alliteration is to repeat or use the same letter or sound at the beginning of the word.

Example: Rain races ripping like wind its restless rage rattles like rocks ripping through the air.

Love is for luck, lack of love is lonely, but life is unfair. You should leave and let her

live with him. Chayo quote, Nov 2020

7. Hyperbole

Hyperbole is to use exaggerated words or statements to make the story or text more exciting.

Example: I believe two million percent that Mr.M. will give me a bonus because of this meme.

ต้องการ เลื่อยขาเก้าอี้ หัวหน้างาน !! !! - Pantip

Principal R. is eating chocolate while ordering the instruction for teachers.

“I am 100 million percent sure that I will be the next principal,” said Mr.M.

8.Flashback

Flashback is when the timeline is earlier than the main story, a character thinks about the past.

Example: When I am going through hard times I will think about my grandpa’s teaching word “never stop  even you have already succeeded in your mission.”

English is not difficult. This is what I did when I was a kid.

9. Symbolism

Symbolism is art or logo to make people understand what are you talking about.

Example: 1.Red rose mean love and romance.

2. White means pure and good.

3.Black means evil and death.

10. Imagery

Imagery is to create images in the mind of the readers to make them feel like they are in the situation. By using descriptive words, there are 5 senses that give you images in your mind and they are what you see, touch, taste,  hear, and lastly smell.

Example: The foggy smoke in front of the enormous rocky red cliff. There are big muscled soldiers standing on top of the cliff with gigantic long-barreled cannons trying to shoot at us.

Going to my new school like going to war, in the very early morning I need an hour to prepare a lot of stuff to go to school. I am forced to wear strictly uniform, tug in my shirt, necktie, belt, black socks, black leather shoes. I need to bring a chrome book bag, learning bag, PE bag, running shoes, water bottle, art and project works, etc. When arriving at school, I need to push all my stuff into my tiny lockers.

That all about 10 techniques of figurative language.

Terry Fox Run 2020: Walk the Talk

Terrance Stanley Fox (Born July 28, 1958 – Died June 28, 1981) was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and Cancer Research activist. In 1980, with one leg having been amputated due to cancer, he embarked on an east to west cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometers (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy. The annual Terry fox, first held in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the world's largest one-day fundraiser for cancer research; over CD750 million has been raised in his name, as of January 2018. (Wikipedia)

Although he passed away, we are the people who still remember the work that he had done for everybody, particularly cancer patients. Now every Canadian school in the world has the campaign to raise money for cancer research in the memorial of Terry Fox's campaign. Of course, my school BCISB (British Columbia International School Bangkok) just had the campaign, our whole community has a goal of 2,000 km (1242.742mi) and 150,000 Baht (4806 USD) fund. Paying helps for cancer research, but our health depends on us. We need to take care of ourselves like the phrase "good health, money can't buy." I did both running is the cheapest activity that gives me good health, and donated some money from my saving can help to extend much life.

I ran a total of 207 km within 15 days this year throughout the running journey. I had learned new things both beautiful and interesting things. I saw the full Moon, Mars (come to closest to earth during my journey), racing with school bus (arrived my village to send other kids), seeing old neighbors who sat in the park quietly in the morning, facing with the infinity of mosquitoes during the night run, and applied math skills to control my pace ratio. My favorite part of the journey was when I ran in the rain and got a good feeling as the quote "Anyone who thinks that sunshine is pure happiness has never run in the rain." Someday the rain was too heavy to run, so the next day I watched the Weather App and planned my run.

This is all of my running journeys. I am very proud that I received the top virtual runner award. Lastly, we should keep in mind that cancer is very close to us, humanity can't really win it.

Why is number 7?

Thai people, the favorite number would be 9 because the meaning in Thai is moving forward or prosper. However, I like number 7 and it is the world's most favorite number too because it might be the most unique number with one or more following 7 reasons.

See the source image

1. 7 is the maximum one digit that is prime ( 2 3 5 7), and 7 is a unique number because there is no shortcut for the divisibility rule. You need to do it straightly. The others have a shortcut
2: all even numbers can be divided by 2,
3: the sum of all the digits of that number can be divided by 3,
4: the last 2 digits can be divided by 4,
5: the last digit of that number has to be 5 or 0,
6: the number that must be divided by both 2 and 3,
8: the last three digits of that number can be divided by 8,
9: the sum of all digits of that number can be divided by 9.
and 7: double the last digit, subtract to the rest numbers, the result must be divided by 7. There is no shortcut!

2. 7 is the lucky number of western because God made the world in six days and rested on the seventh day. After the rain, the sky will be clear so you can find 7 colors in the rainbow.
3. 7 is the maximum thing that humans can memorize best such as 7 days in the week.
4. 7 is the 7 habits of highly effective people, the popular self-improvement book.
5. 7 is the seven-eleven store that we see everywhere and use every day.
6. 7 is the number of Cristiano Ronaldo, my idol for work and life attitude.
7. 7 is the code number of Bond, James Bond, my identity.
